White Night Wedding Premiered Tonight
Baltasar´s latest feature film, White Night Wedding, premiered tonight in Haskolabio, the largest cinema in Reykjavik. The film, director and crew received a standing ovation from the audience which packed the 1.000 seats cinema hall.
The film, loosely based on Anton Tsjekhov’s stage play Ivanov, was filmed in the small West-Fjord island Flatey in August with an all-Icelandic cast and crew.
White Night Wedding was developed simultaneously for stage and screen with the same cast. The play will have its theatre premiere on December 26 at Reykjavik’s Icelandic National Theatre, where Kormákur made his acting debut in the early 1990s.
The film was produced with support from the Icelandic Film Centre. The Icelandic distribution is in the hands of Sena Film while the international distribution rights on the title are still to be announced.
